As my son gets older I find it really hard to get rid of his baby clothes. Can you relate? Most of his clothes have a special memory attached to it. For example, the onesie I brought him home from the hospital in, the onesie he wore during his first photo shoot and the outfit he was wearing when he walked for the first time.
I just can’t seem to get rid of these items, yet they are just sitting in a box in the garage, taking up space. Often times I tell myself I need to get rid of them (this usually happens when I am watching the show ‘hoarders’) but let’s be honest; it’s like getting rid of memories.
So if you are in any way like me, and just can’t get rid of your babies precious little clothes… Then MEET NATALIE—The beautiful and talented creator of Stitches by Natalie! Natalie has a true talent for sewing and if you haven’t seen the memory bears she creates, you must! They are a perfect gift for yourself or any mama who wants to hang on to these memories.
Tell us about your shop and how/why you got started:
“I started sewing more and more after I had my son 4 years ago. I loved making him toys, blankets, and burp rags. Soon after more and more of my friends and family were having babies too so I started making things for everyone. For my cousin’s sons first birthday I made him a teddy bear. It was the first bear that I made. And that’s when I started making teddy bears for everyone. After losing a grandparent I wanted to make something I could have to hold all of my memories with and that’s when I started to focus on making memory bears. I remember the first one I made from someone that was not family. I was so nervous that I was going to mess up the bear and her grandfather’s items that I was momentarily frozen at my cutting counter when I looked up and there in the window was a humming bird just looking at me. The humming bird gave me a sign a sign that I needed in that moment. That was the start of Stitches by Natalie.”
Tell us about your Memory Bears:
“Memory bears are bears that are created from loved one’s items. Whether it is a shirt, sweater, pants, or a blanket each item becomes part of a bear that you can cherish forever. Baby bears are made to remember a special time in your baby’s life.”
Natalie also creates custom hooded towels (my son has a ninja turtle one and LOVES it!) and super hero capes.

These would be great gifts for my nieces and nephew!
I love this idea!
Such a great idea! I haven’t thrown away any of my son’s clothes (saving them for hand me downs), but I’m definitely putting aside a few of my favorites for one of these bears 🙂
This is the coolest idea for memories that I have seen! I will have to refer some of my friends to her shop.
This is such a great idea! I love it!
These are so awesome. What a great way to create memories from items from your kids.
