Old Wives’ Tales for Predicting Gender

pinkblueballoons

Hey mamas,

I am currently 15 weeks pregnant and the suspense of waiting to find out the gender of our baby is killing me. So since we won’t know until February 28th (I’ll be 21 weeks pregnant), I thought some Friday night old wives tale prediction tests might be fun. If you’re pregnant and patiently impatiently waiting to find out your little peanuts gender, then play along with me and leave your results in the comments below!

Heart Rate

The old tale goes, if your babies heart rate is 140 or above you might be having a girl, and if their heart rate is below 140, you are having a boy.

My Results: GIRL (heart rate on 1/29/17 was 145)

Acne + Mothers Glow

It is said that little girls steal their mother’s good looks. So if you are having breakouts and missing that “pregnancy glow”, you might be having a girl. If your complexion is clear and you have silky smooth hair, you may be having a boy.

My Results: GIRL

Cold Feet

Are your feet colder than usual? This could mean you’re having a boy. If your feet feel the same temperature as pre pregnancy, then there is a chance it could be a girl.

My Results: BOY

Cravings

Sweet cravings could mean a girl while salty cravings could mean a boy.

My Results: GIRL

Ring Test

Tie a ring on a string and hang it over your tummy. If it swings in a circle, you could be having a girl, but if it’s swinging back and forth, it means you’re having a boy.

My Results: BOY

Headaches

If you’re suffering from headaches that could be a sign you are having a boy.

My Results: BOY

Moodiness

If you’re feeling more moody than usual, you could be having a girl. If you are more calm and relaxed, you could be having a boy.

My Results: GIRL

Morning Sickness

If you’re suffering from nausea and feeling queasy all the time, you could be having a girl. Those blessed with no morning sickness could be having a boy.

My Results: GIRL (however, I feel the same as when I had my son.)

Balance

If you’re feeling extra clumsy lately, that could mean you’re having a boy. While being more graceful could mean it’s a girl.

My Results: BOY

Chinese Gender Chart

Discovered 700 years ago, the Chinese gender chart uses your age and month of conception to predict whether you’re having a boy or a girl. There is no proof it actually works however, it was correct with my son! Click here to try it for yourself.

My Results: BOY

Final Results

GIRL: 5/10

BOY: 5/10

So there you have it. I am no closer to finding out the gender than I was an hour ago. lol So let me hear from you all instead. What do you think our baby is going to be? A boy or a girl?

Also if you followed along and tried out these old wives tales for yourself, I’d love to hear your results and if you think they are accurate or not! Comment below or on instagram @peanutinmybellyco.
