With a due date of July 10th, I supposed it’s time to pack my hospital bag!
Now as my doctor said, even if you arrive at the hospital with nothing, you will be fine. The hospital will provide you with many of the necessities. However, it’s nice to have your own things to make your hospital stay a little more comfortable.
Below is a list of items I have chosen to pack in my hospital bag. If you have any additional items you think are a must – leave a comment below!
Weekender Bag
A medium size bag to put all your belongings in and also to take home the freebies you get from the hospital, like diapers and wipes! My bag (pictured) is a Madden Girl Crayon Weekender Bag from DSW.
Nightgown + Robe
I’m bringing a soft and comfortable nightgown that has straps that detach for nursing. I am also bringing this gorgeous delivery robe that my sister bought me from Pink Blush!
Nursing Bra + Panties
I highly recommend getting a nursing bra, it will make your life so much easier. You also want to bring some panties a size bigger to accommodate the giant pads you will be wearing after delivery. #grannypanties
Socks + Slippers
It can sometimes get cold in hospitals so I would bring a pair of warm socks and also some slippers in case you’re able to get up and walk around a little.
Bluetooth Speaker
If you are wanting to have music playing while you give birth then be sure to pack a bluetooth speaker and have your playlist ready!
Outfit for Baby
It’s always fun to pack a cute going home outfit for baby. The one I chose is this Jersey Set from H&M.
Swaddle
My son loved being swaddled, so it’s definitely something I plan on packing in my hospital bag. I got this adorable Aden + Anais set from La Petite Chenille.
Sleep Sheep or Sound Soother
This was recommended to me. I didn’t bring any sound soother with me with my first son, but I was told this helped a mama greatly so I am definitely going to give it a try. We’ve heard good things about the Cloud b Sleep Sheep.
Toiletries
The hospital will give you some, but it’s always nice to have the items you like and use.
Pillows for You + Baby
Hospital pillows can sometimes be uncomfortable. I plan on bringing my own as well as my Boppy for the baby and breastfeeding.
Camera + Charger
I think this one is self explanatory!
IMPORTANT
If you don’t bring anything else, make sure you at least bring your Insurance Card, ID + A CAR SEAT. The hospital will not let you take your baby home without a car seat properly installed.
So what do you plan on packing in your hospital bag?
