Primally Pure Skincare for Mama + Baby

tempImageForSave

Lately I have been trying to better myself in all aspects. Eating better, trying to keep the house clean and organized (a never ending work in progress!), and trying to take better care of my hair, skin and nails. So when my friend Danika posted about Primally Pure—a 100% natural and toxin-free skincare company—I had to try!

*This post is an honest review. I am not sponsored or affiliated with Primally Pure in any way. I am just a girl looking to better herself and switch to natural products and here to share what I think about them.

Primally Pure Peppermint Lip Balm

Lip balm is always good to have on-hand, especially as we head into fall and our lips tend to get more chapped. I am loving the peppermint flavor which consists of Organic Beeswax, Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Tallow from Grass-Fed Cows, Organic Mango Butter and Organic Peppermint Essential Oil. Have you tried any of the other scents? I don’t know about you but Creamsicle and Grapefruit sound delish!

Primally Pure Lavender Complexion Mist

I wanted to love this item, I really did. I have naturally more red skin and am always trying to tame it. The Lavender Complexion Mist is said to be a “balancing + refreshing mist made with ingredients that hydrate, soothe, and tone the skin.” Lavender is mean’t to soothe damaged/inflamed skin and is also well known for its calming properties. While the Aloe Vera Juice works to hydrate and moisturize the skin, helping to restore its natural youthful glow. And the witch hazel tones the skin + reduces inflammation, and organic vegetable glycerin (a humectant) softens skin + locks in moisture. While this all sounds amazing and exactly what I need, unfortunately my skin was really sensitive to this product and my face turned bright read and started burning. Don’t let that stop you though (unless you have extra sensitive skin like me)… I’ve read other reviews on this product and many rave about it.

Primally Pure Texturizing Dry Shampoo – Dark Locks

I’ve been looking for a good dry shampoo. I am an everyday washer. I feel disgusting if I don’t wash my hair in the shower but I also hate having to dry/straighten my hair everyday. I’d love to be one of those “every 3 days” girls but I’m definitely not there yet (not even close). But I do have to say this product is helping me get there! I have dark hair so I love that they have the Dark Locks version so those of us with dark hair don’t look like we poured a bottle of baby powder on our heads. This item is made with cocoa powder, kaolin clay, arrowroot powder, baking soda, essential oils of grapefruit, lavender and peppermint. You can definitely smell the cocoa powder – and who doesn’t want to walk around smelling all chocolate-y (yum!)

Primally Pure Baby Powder

I was looking for a talc-free baby powder to sooth my baby’s bottom and help keep his skin dry and rash-free. This one is great! It’s made of organic arrowroot powder and kaolin clay as well as  organic powdered herbs like lavender, chamomile and calendula to soothe the skin and prevent irritation.

Primally Pure Baby Oil

This one is great for both baby and mama! If you haven’t used baby oil to take off your eye makeup, you’re missing out. Ever since I began wearing eye makeup, I’ve always used baby oil to take it off (thanks mom!) so finding a toxin-free baby oil was a win-win for both baby and myself.  Their baby oil is made with only four all-natural + organic ingredients; Sunflower Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Jojoba Oil, Calendula Flower and it leaves the skin feeling soft and supple. This item alone or their Baby Kit Bundle would make for an excellent baby shower gift!

Primally Pure Lemongrass Deodorant

The deodorant was the main reason I started purchasing from Primally Pure. I wanted to start to switch to a non-toxic deodorant and I had heard great things about theirs. Unfortunately for me, my sensitive skin did not adjust well to their deodorant. The Lemongrass Deodorant that I purchased is made of Organic Arrowroot Powder, Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic Tallow from Grass-Fed Cows, Baking Soda, Organic Beeswax and Organic Lemongrass Essential Oil. The baking soda is what many are sensitive to and can cause your pits to break out in a bright red itchy rash. Lucky for most – they make a ‘sensitive’ version (which has less baking soda) so I made another order to try it out.

Primally Pure Mini Sensitive Deodorant Collection – Lavender, Lemongrass, Teatree, Unscented)

So since my skin was too sensitive to use their regular deodorant, I decided to purchase the mini sensitive deodorant collection which has less baking soda than the regular. I figured if I broke out in rash again, then I could giveaway the unused mini bottles and if I happened to react fine to these then I could keep them and enjoy all of the scents! (by the way – Lavender is definitely my favorite scent of their deodorants). First day using the sensitive kind and ONE of my pits had a reaction. I figured maybe I used too much on that side and since the rash was gone by the next day I decided to try again and use less. I used only 2 swipes this time and my skin seems to be adjusting fine to it. I am on day 4 of the sensitive and all is well! I did purchase this Coconut Charcoal & Clay Armpit Detox Bar from Zabana Essentials, which is a gentle deep cleansing natural mineral rich bar that detoxifies, exfoliates, unclogs, and freshens armpits. So we will see how that goes! I also purchased their deodorant stick in Rose Water (which has NO baking soda) just in case my pits don’t adjust to the Primally Pure ones (thanks to my friend Merrady for her recommendation!)

Primally Pure Citrus + Mint Body Butter

I’m usually not much of a body butter person. I find it hard to spread around and I’m usually just too lazy to use it. But I decided to purchase it and I’m happy I did! Their Citrus + Mint Body Butter is made with tallow from 100% grass-fed cows (rich in Vitamins A,D,E, and K, anti-inflammatory Conjugated Linoleic Acid + antimicrobial Palmitoleic Acid), mango butter, shea butter, coconut oil, and more. It smells amazing and i’m hoping it will help with dry winter weather skin!

Primally Pure Beauty Cream

This stuff. Oh my… if I could recommend one product to purchase from Primally Pure, this would be it. I wish I would have purchased the bigger bottle because this stuff is heavenly! I use this product at night after I wash my face and I wake up with the most smooth and silky skin. Their Beauty Cream contains a blend of animal fats and organic plant oils that work together to deeply moisturize and nourish the skin without clogging pores. According to their website, “Tallow is the main ingredient in [their] Beauty Cream because of its unique similarity to the makeup of our skin cells (both are comprised of roughly 50% saturated fats) and because of its high content of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K (nutrients that are nearly impossible to find in plant oils). Our skin needs these nutrients and fats together in order to stay healthy, elastic, and balanced. Emu Oil, another key ingredient in Beauty Cream, has robust anti-inflammatory properties and is often used to treat inflammatory skin conditions including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. This oil penetrates deep to moisturize and soften fine lines. [Their] Beauty Cream is also made with organic plant oils including jojoba (non-greasy, ideal for all skin types), palmarosa (helps to combat acne-causing bacteria), and peppermint (calms + soothes the skin).”

So tell me—have you tried Primally Pure or other natural skincare companies? What’s your fave!?
