Happy Friday! My son Connor turned 4 today and we celebrated by giving him his super exciting birthday present, a Trader Joe’s themed play grocery store! His cousins have a pretend grocery store and every time he goes over to their house he’s been obsessed with it and always asks if he can have one. “Maybe for your birthday” was on repeat for weeks and the day has finally come that Connor gets his own play store!

I remember when I was little making a fake checkout table with my cash register and a pretend scanner, I would have FLIPPED for the play stores that they make now-a-days. They are seriously so cool!

Once I was finished putting together the grocery store, I pulled out my Silhouette Cameo and began creating the vinyl stickers to go on the store to make it look like Trader Joe’s.

I completed the theme with Moto the Monkey, a bottle of Everything But the Bagel seasoning, a card rack with Trader Joe’s cards and a little pot of “Fresh Cut Flowers” (because Trader Joe’s always has the best flowers, am I right!?) I also had saved a bunch of boxes from food we purchased and re-taped them so he had some play food along with grocery bags from the store.

Oh and of course I couldn’t forget to add in a Hawaiian shirt and hand-made name tag for our little Trader Joe’s crew member!

The play store was a huge hit! Connor absolutely loved his Trader Joe’s themed play grocery store. Check out the video on TikTok!

  1. Where can we buy one and for how much? I may not need everything because of space but like maybe the conveyor belt thing with the two shelves in front.
    Let me know.

    1. It’s the Melissa & Dough grocery store, although I am not sure they sell it in red any longer. You can likely find a used one on marketplace and then DIY the branding you want on it.
